A Texas semitruck driver is dead after being hit by two more tractor trailers on I-70 in Morgan County early Thursday morning, State Police said.
Troopers responded to the interstate near County Road 1000 just after midnight.
Indiana State Police said 37-year-old Alfred Hill Jr. was placing emergency triangles near his tractor trailer after the vehicle broke. The semi was partially in the driving lane, police said. ISP officials said another tractor trailer driver swerved to avoid hitting Hill Jr.’s car and hit another tractor trailer in the passing lane.
Both of the incoming tractor trailers veered to the side of I-70, hitting Hill Jr. and his vehicle.
All three trucks ended up in a ditch.
Hill Jr. died in the crash. Medics airlifted one of the drivers to a hospital. The third driver had no injuries.
