The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have arrived on YouTube with launch of dedicated channel
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have embraced Generation Z, grabbed the bull by the horns and launched a YouTube channel.
In a trailer, launched this afternoon, much like the YouTube stars who frequent the platform, they are friendly banter-incarnate. It’s a lovely trailer – a highlights reel of the couple’s greatest hits that captures the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arriving at the BAFTAs, disembarking a plane in Ireland (in Kate’s fabulous all-green regalia) and the Duke of Cambridge donning an apron and helping out at a soup kitchen. And it’s all set to an upbeat, electro soundtrack.
They captioned the video: ‘Better late than never – we’re now on YouTube’. Prince William opens the trailer saying: ‘You’ll have to be careful what you say now, because these guys are filming you.’ At which Kate grimaces, laughing, ‘I know!’ As a finale, Kate can be seen telling her husband: ‘You don’t need to roll your Rs,’ as her husband has clearly taken to being a YouTuber rather too enthusiastically.
In something of a social media overhaul, they’ve also changed their Instagram handle to ‘Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’ from Kensington Royal as it was formerly.
Only launching today, the channel has already amassed 30.8k and the trailer just under 17,000 views – watch this space.
