A very happy second birthday to Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, the son of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

As he marks this special day, royal tributes are already incoming. The Queen, Clarence House and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have already posted their birthday wishes to social media alongside a selection of touching family photographs – largely taken just after his birth when the couple were based in the UK.

The Queen’s message read: ‘Wishing Archie Mountbatten-Windsor a very happy 2nd birthday today ?.’ The photograph they have chosen to illustrate the note is the official photograph taken days after Archie’s birth, with a backdrop of the palace.

Meanwhile, Prince Charles, Archie’s grandfather, has posted a monochrome photograph of him and his son, Prince Harry, looking adoringly at the newly born Archie. Prince Charles will become a grandfather for the fifth time when the Duchess of Sussex gives birth to a baby girl this summer.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, a day after making their first foray into the world of YouTube, have also posted a tribute to Archie. This time a family portrait taken at his christening with the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, in attendance.

It was on Tuesday 11 May that news came that the Duchess of Sussex had written a children’s book entitled The Bench inspired by her husband Harry’s relationship with Archie. No doubt the Sussex household over in Montecito, Santa Barbara, are celebrating duly along with their dogs, Guy and Pula, and rescue chickens – as Archie keenly awaits the arrival of a younger sister.

Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was born on 6 May 2019 at the Portland Hospital in London. He is currently seventh-in-line to the throne behind his father, Harry.
