For nearly the last quarter century, the Evansville Freedom Festival has been a popular summertime tradition. The Freedom Festival offers days of continuous entertainment. Included is Thunder on the Ohio hydroplane racing, concerts, parades, carnival rides and booths, a beer garden and sock hop, as well as a fireworks spectacular on July 4.

Evansville’s annual West Side Nut Club Fall Festival is the fifth largest street festival in the country.  The week-long event takes place on Franklin Street and brings out over 150,000 people!  Activities include parades, queen contest, live music and rides and attractions for children.  To top it off, the festival hosts over 100 booths featuring such rare delicacies as alligator jerky, funnel cakes, fried pickles and crocodile tacos.

Southwest Indiana is home to many festivals, including a rod run for street rod owners, called Frog Follies. Since 1975 the E’ville Iron Street Rod Club has put on a rod run for street rod owners in August. It is held at the Vanderburgh County 4-H Center in Evansville Indiana. At the first event we had 44 street rods registered. Since that time the Frog Follies has grown to an average of over 4000 street rods each year. The event became known as the Frog Follies after the club had a bull frog race at the first event. We’ve had entries from Alaska, Australia, Canada, and all 48 continental states over the years.
