Public Policy Committees
The Chamber of Commerce of Southwest Indiana offers several committee
opportunities for its members to become engaged through policy
development and education. Our committees provide a forum to discuss and
establish formal business perspectives on a wide range of policy issues,
and to develop an official policy agenda adopted by a consensus of the
committee with final approval by The Chamber board of directors.
The volunteers serving on The Chamber's committees are an integral part
of our public policy efforts. These individuals have the opportunity to
work with elected officials and advocate positions on behalf of the
regional business community. For details on the public policy
committees, please e-mail
us at chamberinfo@ccswin.com.
Government Affairs
Committee
The
Government Affairs Committee consists of
individuals who work together to promote pro-business advocacy at all
levels of government. Each year, the committee formulates policies on
issues that affect business. During election years, the committee works
to inform other Chamber members about candidates' positions on issues
that affect business and industry. At the local and state level, the
committee monitors budgets and issues to ensure a positive business
climate.
Environmental & Energy Committee
The Environmental Committee is composed of technical and non-technical
representatives from the business community who promote through advocacy
and education the balancing of environmental protection and sustainable
business growth. Topics range from air and water quality, to industrial
safety measures and emission control.
