Indiana Chamber of Commerce Community of the Year

Downtown revitalization, construction of two major corporate headquarters and the arrival of new cultural and tourist attractions led in part to Evansville receiving the Community of the Year award from the Indiana Chamber of Commerce. Evansville received the award during Indiana Chamber's annual awards dinner in Indianapolis. In the 17 years the chamber has bestowed the award, this is the first time Evansville has won. It bested more than 20 other communities for the title. Mayor Jonathan Weinzapfel was on hand to accept the prestigious award.
